About Me |
I was raised in Riverton, Wyoming by a family stock full of educators. My mother was my 8th grade language arts teacher and my favorite teacher of all time. She always told me that I was going to be a teacher too.
In 2008, I graduated from Chadron State College with a B.S. in Education, an endorsement in Elementary grades K-8, and a minor in Mathematics. I taught my first three years in Nebraska teaching 4th and 5th grades, followed by seven years here in Sheridan School District #2 teaching 4th and 5th grades as well. In the summer of 2012, I completed my Masters of Science in Education in Instructional Technology through the University of Nebraska Kearney.
In my undergraduate studies, my educational technology class was less than sufficient and I was in awe when I started student teaching. My cooperating teacher was amazing and showed me what can be accomplished with technology in a classroom. She planted the seed in me to embrace technology and it has exploded from there.
Through my masters work and my experience with 1:1 classrooms, my passion for technology has only grown. I have seen first hand students transform into researchers, problem solvers, and cooperative learners through integration. Whether a classroom has a class set of chrome books, just a few iPads, or even a simple projector, bringing technology into the classroom can increase engagement, excitement, and work ethic.
I enjoy sharing my passion for teaching with technology with pre-service teachers as well as current teachers. I enjoy teaching online courses as well as present at workshops. I want to ensure that all educators are knowledgeable with the most current technology and are able to seamlessly blend it into their lessons during their student teaching semester or current classroom.
Currently, I am the Computer Science Outreach Coordinator for Northern Wyoming Community College District. It is my job to bring Computer Science into the Elementary Schools here in Sheridan, Wyoming. I work with teachers to create lessons, to form a curriculum to reach all learners K-5 and meet the WY CS State Standards. I would love to share my passions with you.
